2014 Asian Heritage Month Calendar

 

4/1: Asian Heritage Month Kick-Off Games

Simpson Drill Field @ 5PM—Asian Presidents’ Council

We’re kicking it off with a field day you won't forget! We'll have the classics like the Three Legged Race, but we'll also have other interesting ones to keep you on your toes! (Blindfold Scavenger Hunt, anyone?) There will be remarks on the month and free Asian snacks. Mark your calendars and get ready!

 

4/3: C.H.I.L.D. Week Movie Night: Slumdog Millionaire

Rudder 504 @ 7PM—Delta Kappa Delta Sorority , Inc.

To raise awareness for child abuse, Delta Kappa Delta is hosting a movie night during their philanthropy event. This is a free event and there will be snacks.

 

4/4: From the Bottom of My Art

Chocolate Gallery in Downtown Bryan @ 6PM—Delta Xi Nu Multicultural Sorority, Inc.

Free admission to art exhibition and sale with live performances and musicians. All proceeds go toward helping families that struggle with HIV/AIDS through Project Unity. Part of the many events occurring in Downtown Bryan during First Friday.

 

4/5: Mr. Asia 2014

Zachary 102 @ 6PM—Hong Kong Students’ Association

Mr. Asia is a show where male contestants compete in talent, beauty, wit, creativity, and intelligence for the title and the grand prize of $200. Tickets are $5 presale and $8 at the door.

 

4/7: Dance Dance Education

MSC 2300C @ 7 PM—Asian Presidents’ Council

Dance Dance Education benefits The Citizens Foundation, which builds schools for impoverished children in Pakistan. We will be providing dinner along with performances and a dance workshop. Tickets are $5 presale and $7 at the door. All proceeds benefit The Citizens Foundation.

 

4/12: 3rd Annual Casino Night

Districts Clubhouse @ 7PM—Lambda Delta Psi Sorority

A night of Casino games like poker, blackjack, craps, and roulette to raise money for Ovarian Cancer awareness. There will be food and prizes. Tickets are $7 presale and $10 at the door.

 

4/16: Taste of Asia

Rudder TBA—Multicultural Greek Council

Chapters of MGC will be pairing up to represent countries in the Asian continent such as India, China, Vietnam, etc. Each pair will be responsible for creating a table with displays including information on the country's history, culture, etc. Food will be provided for individuals to sample that pertain to each country.

 

4/17: Asian Heritage Month Movie Night

Rudder Plaza @ 7PM —Rho Delta Chi Sorority, Inc.

To celebrate Asian Heritage Month, Rho Delta Chi and the Aggie Cinema Club will be showing Karate Kid. 

 

4/23: Comedy & Inspiration: A Night with Hari Kondabolu & Howard Chen

MSC 2300C @ 6PM—Asian Presidents’ Council

Join APC in welcoming Hari Kondabolu and Howard Chen to Texas A&M University. Enjoy Hari Kondabolu's stand-up performance and then engage yourself in a discussion about how to succeed in unconventional careers and how to improve the cultural environment of the future. Free refreshments and admission thanks to Barnes and Nobles at Texas A&M University.

 

4/27: APC End of the Year Banquet

MSC 2406 @ 7PM—Asian Presidents’ Council

It will be a dinner for organizations under the APC Umbrella. Top three organizations of the year will be recognized and awarded cash prizes, the 2014-2015 Officer Board will be introduced, and each organization will receive an award. There will be activities and a photo booth as well. Tickets are $8 presale and $10 at the door.
